This team-based approach ensures seamless, well-resourced, and deeply personalized care from doulas who know you well.

  • In-Person Postpartum Follow-Up — 1.5 Hours

About 1–2 weeks after birth, the doula who attended your birth meets you in your home to revisit your birth experience and support your transition into life with a newborn.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • A doula is a trained professional who provides emotional, physical, educational, and advocacy support throughout pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.

Unlike medical providers, doulas do not perform clinical tasks such as cervical exams or fetal monitoring. Instead, we’re here to guide, comfort, and empower you every step of the way.

Research shows that having a birth doula can lead to:

    • Lower rates of C-sections

    • Increased likelihood of spontaneous vaginal birth (avoiding induction)

    • Reduced use of pain medications (we also support families who choose epidurals!)

    • Fewer low Apgar scores for babies

    • Greater overall satisfaction with the birth experience

    • Higher breastfeeding rates

    • Reduced risk of postpartum mood disorders

    Emotional Benefits:

    • Stronger family bonding and partner support

    • Improved postpartum mental health

    • Boosted confidence and self-esteem

    • Lower anxiety levels

    • Greater satisfaction and more positive memories of birth

    Clinical Benefits:

    • Reduced need for Pitocin or pain medications

    • Lower rates of forceps or vacuum delivery

    • Decreased risk of C-section

    • Higher newborn Apgar scores

Special thanks to Evidence Based Birth® and DONA International for ongoing research and advocacy in doula care.

  • No. That’s a common misconception.

At 615 Doula Co., we support all types of birth — home births, hospital births (with or without an epidural), birth centers, and planned C-sections. Our role is to ensure you feel informed, confident, and supported in YOUR choices.

Some families come to us for doula support knowing they will choose an epidural.

For families hoping for an unmedicated birth, research does show that doula support can increase the likelihood of that outcome, but we’re here for you regardless of the path.

  • Currently, most insurance plans do not cover doula services. However, many of our families successfully use their HSA or FSA funds for payment or reimbursement.  This is a changing landscape, though, so don’t hesitate to email us with your specifics.

We’re happy to provide itemized invoices for reimbursement requests, just ask!

  • We recommend booking as early as you can to ensure availability and allow time to learn and build a relationship before your birth.

Our clients often find that connecting early helps them feel more prepared and confident during pregnancy.

If you are later in pregnancy, don’t hesitate to reach out.  We sometimes have later availability!

  • Flexibility is at the heart of what we do. Whether your birth plan evolves from a home birth to a hospital setting, unmedicated to an epidural, you decide on a planned C-section, or you are navigating concerns with baby’s or your health, your doula will adapt right alongside you.

We’ll provide support that aligns with your new needs and preferences and ensures you still feel informed and cared for.

  • It all starts with a free consultation to explore your needs and see if we’re the right fit.

    From there:

    1. You’ll select a package that fits your goals.

    2. We’ll schedule your prenatal sessions to prepare for birth.

    3. Your doulas will go on-call as your due date approaches.

    4. We’ll provide continuous birth support and postpartum follow-up.

It’s a relationship rooted in trust, guidance, and care from start to finish.

  • You work closely with two fully involved doulas throughout your prenatal care, building equal relationships with both.

    Specifically:

    • Connect Call (2 hours, virtual): both doulas attend

    • Birth Basics (3 hours, in-home): one doula attends

    • Birth Basics Continued & Postpartum Prep (3 hours, in-home): your other doula attends

For labor and birth, your doulas share an on-call schedule. Whichever doula attends your birth also visits you at home for your postpartum follow-up. The other doula collaborates in the background and is available to step in if needed.

Our model allows for seamless, well-supported care—while greatly reducing the likelihood that a backup doula you don’t know would ever need to be involved.

  • A doula provides emotional, educational, physical, and advocacy support. Think of us as your birth and postpartum coach. We help you prepare, stay grounded, and make informed decisions, but we don’t perform medical procedures.

A midwife is a licensed medical provider who offers prenatal care, delivers babies, and provides postpartum checkups. Midwives can perform clinical tasks and attend births much like OB-GYNs, though they typically offer a more holistic approach.

If you’d like to understand how doulas, midwives, and OB-GYNs work together, check out this blog post: Looking for Your Birth Team in Nashville: Doulas, Midwives, and OB-GYNs Explained

  • Yes! Our support spans your entire journey from pregnancy and labor through early postpartum.  Some clients choose a birth package while others are looking primarily for postpartum prep and hourly-hands on support.

  • We serve families in Nashville, surrounding communities, and across Middle Tennessee with flexible in-person and virtual care.

    Locations we frequently support include:

    • Davidson County (including the East Nashville, Green Hills, Belmont-Hillsboro, the Nations, Sylvan Park, Midtown, Bellevue, Hermitage, and Joelton, etc.)

    • Williamson County (including Brentwood, Franklin, Nolensville)

    • Rutherford County (including Murfreesboro and Smyrna)

    • Wilson County (including Mt. Juliet and Lebanon)

    • Sumner County (including Hendersonville, Gallatin, Goodlettsville)

  • Getting started is easy. A 50% deposit secures your spot on our calendars and support begins. The remaining balance is due at 36 weeks.

Many families also use their HSA or FSA funds for reimbursement, and we’re happy to provide itemized invoices or receipts as needed.

When you choose doula support with 615 Doula Co., you’re not just investing in your own family, you’re helping another one, too. A portion of every service fee goes directly to our scholarship program, making doula care accessible to families in our community who might not otherwise receive it.
